Project: OS — Overview
Welcome to Project Obsolete Structures! My name is Charles Horton and I have been making mockups of table top games for the past five years, playtesting them with friends to see what ideas stick or not. This project is aiming to be a tabletop RPG deckbuilder. Two pretty distinct genres of games coming together to hopefully provide an enjoyable experience. My biggest inspirations for the gameplay is Slay the Spire’s board game, Dungeons and Dragons, Divinity Original Sin 2, Pokemon, and Magic the Gathering. As for the world, I am inspired by Cyberpunk 2077 and Edgerunns, Borderlands, and Pokemon.
The game takes place in a city called Prosperity in the year 2112, located in the Savannah region within the larger continent Zerchniv (All names are subject to chance. Normally I add names in last). The city itself is a high tech, corporate conglomerate. It is known for how free its citizens are, letting them do just about anything they want as long as it does not interfere with the State, directly impacts others life, and it better not infringe on corporate interest. Being high tech comes at a cost, in order to thrive in Prosperity it is highly encouraged to enhance your body with cybernetics. Being a normal person will result in you not getting a good paying job and wind up being an outcast but even outcast have their birthright. To keep track of everyone's safety in Prosperity, the State enforced a rule back in 2060 that forces anyone who is born or living to receive a birthright, a chip that melds your mind to the Prosperity’s Ai Merideith or suffer severe consequences by the State.
Meanwhile an unseen force called Eon’s are being researched at the States labs. If the people of Prosperity come in contact with an orb (a fragment left behind by an Eon) they are to report it to any State official right away. If they do not obey they can be killed on the spot. The State figured out a way to harness the orb's powers through their research which enhances their military capabilities. There is still much to be found out about the orbs and what powers they still possess.
